The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call about the incident at 6.18am. SCDF officers found the body lying under the third carriage of the train and had to manually extricate it. The woman was pronounced dead by paramedics at about 6.57am. To maintain service on the unaffected stretch of the East-West line, westbound trains were turned around at Queenstown MRT Station. Train service between Jurong East and Joo Koon stations were not affected by the incident. SMRT said it activated a bus bridging service from Queenstown to Jurong East stations to ferry affected commuters. The first bus arrived at Queenstown MRT Station at about 6.50am. About 6,250 passengers were affected during the incident. Westbound train service resumed at 7.03am. Passengers were informed of the service disruption and the free bus services through announcements, notices and the rail travel information system at affected stations.
